Lyrics: I'd Come For You by Nickelback
Wyatt pulled the cinch up a hole, adjusting it until the girth was well secured then dropping it and patting his horse's neck. Buck Ryder was his chosen steed for the given situation. Using a stallion to retrieve a mare in distress was hardly ideal for anyone involved and Wyatt thought it best from experience to use a horse that was going to add a little less stress to the rescue. Wyatt pulled his hair back by combing through it with his fingers then took up the loose bridle in his hands. He pulled the reins over Bucks' head and settled them up on the saddle horn. He stood alongside the mustang and urged him to take the bit, which he did. The gelding held fairly still whilst he was tacked up and Wyatt was relieved not to have to struggle. As of late the horses had been especially skittish with their pent up energy and they knew very well that when winter came they would finally put their skills to good use. The cattle drive was coming up on them in two days and Wyatt had recruited a few extra hands. He also had some local Westins going out and participating in the drive. A few rodeo boys and even a strong woman or two wanted to get some more experience when it came to handling cattle and this was certainly their opportunity if there ever was one.
The bridle was finally fixed on and Wyatt took a hold of the reins, leading Buck out of the stall once he pushed the half door open with the point of his boot. The dun paint followed him and his hooves clip-clopped on the floor as Wyatt led him down the aisle.
Hey Lil.
Wyatt pulled Buck up to a halt as he passed Boone's stall. He leaned over the half door to take a peak as his wife saddled up her horse. Boone had proven himself to be quite the tame horse when Wyatt had watched Lily ride him for the first time. Wyatt enjoyed seeing his wife that happy and had perhaps hinted that Boone had been a good buy, and that was as far as Wyatt had gotten to complimenting the latest addition.
I'll be outside when you're ready.Just one more moment,
Thats all that's needed,
Like wounded soldiers,
In need of healing
Time to be honest
This time I'm pleading
Please don't dwell on it
'Cause I didn't mean it
I can't believe I said I'd lay our love on the ground,
But it doesnt matter 'cause I made it up forgive me now
Everyday I spend away my souls inside out
Gotta be some way that I can make it up to you now, somehow
By now you know that,
I'd come for you,
No one but you,
Yes I'd come for you,
But only if you told me to,
And I'd fight for you,
I'd lie its true,
Give my life for you,
You know I'd always come for you
Just that morning Wyatt had received a call from the BLM. When Wyatt had first seen the lone horse out by the river Lily had phoned the BLM when they got back home. Although Lily had insisted on bringing the horse in that same day the BLM had said they would prefer if they monitored the situation themselves - which they had. They hadn't received any other phone calls until today to announce that they had finally caught up with the lone horse. They were only able to sight the mustang by helicopter and had asked Wyatt to go out there since the horse was well within his boundaries. The BLM was still a while away and since Wyatt was so close there was no sense in leaving a horse in distress out there for much longer.
So there he was leading Buck down the aisle and halting him once again alongside the large double doors of the stabling area. He let Buck stand free without any hold on the reins as Wyatt gathered up the rope and wound it in a smaller circle to be able to attach it to the saddle. Buck nosed curiously at Wyatt's elbow with his ears perched forwards on the top of his head, his nostrils flaring wide as he anticipated the coming events. He knew what that rope meant and excitement seemed to creep up under the mustangs skin. Wyatt fixed the rope on the saddle and then took a hold of the horn, putting his foot in the stirrup and hauling himself up into the saddle. Buck was about the same size as Hero, if not that fraction taller, so Wyatt had no problem getting himself up and over all 16hh of horse. He found his seat in the western saddle and gathered up the reins in one hand. He urged Buck to the right and the gelding walked through onto the snow, which crunched beneath his hooves. Out in the paddocks a few horses glanced curiously as Wyatt rode Buck out into the yard. Katy was with a friend in order to avoid all the chaos of bringing in a wild horse. Wyatt didn't want his daughter around in case this horse's reaction was worse than what they had had before. There had been a situation where a horse injured themselves and Wyatt just knew that Katy would be quite sensitive to seeing that kind of thing.
Wyatt turned Buck on the spot, the gelding rotating around on his hind legs, going a quarter of a circle then halting. They were facing the stables as Wyatt waited for his wife and her horse to emerge.
