Katie sat bareback on Keyota. She held onto the mane and smiled. She looked at her back pack. She herd her puppy poke his head out. Hehehe, How about we stop here guys. She spoke and stoped Keyota. She stoped Keyota and sat her backpack down carefully. The tiny puppy, Roxy, walked out sniffig the ground. Katie giggled. She looked at the view of the lake. Katie walked near it as she saw fish swimming down the stream. Keyota walked near her and snorted. She sniffed the water. Katie put Roxyon her lap and patted her. She sivered a bt as the wind blew about. She put her jacket on. Katie nodded. She got a little baby blanket and put it around Roxy. Keyota had thick coat so she was ok. Katie sighed and leaned herself on a tree. She patted Keyota as she layed down by them. She looked up at the sky. Now this... this was ok. Just ok. No parents around to kick or hit you. She gave a huge sigh and smiled. She woundered if anybody else would show up.

Raine breathed out a heavy sigh, pulling off her sunglasses and hanging them on the collar of her shirt. She had made a mistake in wearing a white cotton button-up shirt, which had been a good choice at the moment. She was freezing what with the autumn winds blowing right in her direction. At least the sun was out, which provided her with a little warmth. Her face was a little bit flushed as she looked down at the gelding she was riding. Cowboy was a difficult horse in the sense that he had his own mind about where he wanted to go, otherwise he was easy to ride for a beginner like her. Raine had been taken out to the BLM by her grandmother, who used to be a good country rider 'back in the day'. Raine sensed that it was supposed to be a distraction, to perhaps bring out a love of horses that she had never really had before. Upon arrival, she was surrounded by beautiful horses, most of whom were wild. Then there was Cowboy. He had been abandoned, tied to the BLM fence. No one had seen the owner come or go. He had been there a month before Raine arrived. He had been an absolute sweetie pie, and Raine was in love.
Then there had been Des. Her name was Destiny but the way she pranced around the paddock with the other horses brought one name to mind: Desert Dancer. Somehow Raine found herself signing adoption papers a week later. And now she was learning to ride. This was her first time out of the Silver Stag paddocks with him, so she was a petrified.
This time, This place Misused, Mistakes Too long, Too late Who was I to make you wait Just one chance Just one breath Just in case there's just one left 'Cause you know, you know, you know
That I love you I have loved you all along And I miss you Been far away for far too long I keep dreaming you'll be with me and you'll never go Stop breathing if I don't see you anymore
Cowboy pulled at the reins and Raine loosened up, stretching her legs and adjusting herself in the saddle. She really should have asked Wyatt to come along with her, but him and the other ranch hands were headed out to town. So, here she was. Taimanen River was dead ahead and she guessed that would be her turning point. But she found herself looking at a young girl with her horse and a puppy. The group looked out of place and there wasn't an adult around. It was just the three of them. Frowning a little bit, Raine urged Cowboy on, using his 'trigger' to get him up to a trot.
Hello.
Raine was well-known for her broad and friendly smile, which was exactly what she gave this other girl.

Katie closed her eyes. Thinking of how peaceful this place was. She looked as Keyota nickered. She sighed and herd a voice. She jumped a bit. Roxy barked and layed under the blanket. Katie looked at the woman on her horse. Hello. She said. She sat up and looked at the woman's horse. He was beautiful. She looked at the girl. Keyota stood up shaking getting dust off her. Katie saw Keyota walking away. She shook her head no to Keyota. Keyota came back. Katie pulled a rainbow colored lead out of the backpack. She stood with Roxy in her hands. I'm Katie. She said. She smiled as Roxy looked around. She smiled. Katie looked back at the woman and the horse. Nice Horse. She added looking at her horse. She held onto Keyota's lead as she started to graze on the grass below.

Raine watched the three of them as they walked about, coming to attention at the sound of a new arrival in their midst. Cowboy's ears lurched forwards on the crown of his head, watching the other horse rather curiously. Ladies man. He really was. He had stolen Raine's heart and had tried to court Desert Dancer but she would hear none of it. Now this girl's mare. Raine's smile became softer as she heard the girl's name. Katie.
My name's Raine.
She gathered the rains up into one hand, held onto the horn of the saddle then dismounted, taking the two parts of the reins and holding one in her hand whilst the other rested over the saddle. Cowboy made to move forwards but Raine restrained him.
Thank you. Yours is very pretty.
She commented on the dapple grey, brushing her golden locks away from her face.
Your puppy is very cute. What's his name?
Raine sounded as enthusiastic as she usually was. Overcoming her parents death was a big deal for her, but the countryside offered her something more than the LA scene could - a sense of peace. You could think here. There wasn't any big-city life buzzing around town to distract you, only friendly faces to welcome you into their town.

Katie smiled. Nice to meet you. She said. Keyota saw the stallion and snorted. She nickered to him. Katie gave a little tug at the lead. Behave. Her face sai. Keyota didn't really care for stallion nor mares. Really Keyota didn't care for any horse other then herself. Thanks. Shes Roxy. She said looking as Roxy walked into her back pack. She made sure she was ok in there before putting the back pack on her back. Keyota started to graze. Katie smiled. Do you come from one of the ranchs around here? She asked.

Roxy was cute and very fluffy. Raine watched the excited little puppy. What was she? Husky, maybe? Or one of those really big, thick-coated dogs? She couldn't tell. But the blue eyes were stunning. At Katie's question, Raine looked up at her face.
Well, there's only one ranch around.
She said, shrugging a little bit.
Cowboy is boarded at the ranch. I'm from Los Angeles.
Cowboy tugged on the reins and then he nudged Raine on the back, sending her a few steps forward. She looked over her shoulder at him, scowling a bit as she tickled his muzzle and he bobbed his head. His long black mane was thrown up and down until the dun resumed staring at Keyota.
Uh, are you here by yourself?
Sort of an obvious question since there was no one else was around. She didn't know how lenient the people back in town were, leaving people out in the country by themselves. Raine was wary herself. Apparently a mountain lion had been spotted up in the mountains. Thankfully, though, they were far from the mountains.

Katie smiled and nodded. Cool. She said and smiled. She looked at Cowboy the horse. She giggled. It was a cute but funny name. She smiled and looked as Keyota squealed and backed away. She tugged the lead. Keyota, stop. Now. Hes just saying hi. She said. Keyota stoped but stood behind Katie. Katie smiled. Sorry. She just really does't like new horses to her. In her world its all about herself. She said and giggled. Yes i'm alone. She said.

Cowboy took a few steps back, throwing his head up in surprise at Keyota's reaction. Becoming a bit flustered, he snorted and pulled his ears back a little bit. He did a curious thing by lifting his top lip, revealing a row of teeth. His curiosity made him the type of horse who always came back. He didn't run for the hills as soon as something spooked him. Thank goodness he wasn't easily scared, or else Raine wouldn't be standing where she was now.
Little Miss Princess.
Raine struck a mock curtsy, laughing a little bit as she righted herself into a normal standing position. She had asked the girl if she was alone and the answer had been yes.
Pretty brave of you to be out here by yourself. Then again, I can't blame you. This place is pretty awesome.
She looked around herself at the surroundings, reminding herself of why she had commented on how 'awesome' it was. She wondered how her rare Nokota horse, Desert Dancer, would take to being let free in a place like this. She could imagine that it would be a dream for the strawberry roan. Speaking of Nokota's, back on Silver Stag there was a blue roan stallion, also a Nokota, and also adopted from the BLM. The stallion was feisty, as was Des, who wasn't quite as rowdy but rowdy enough to be quite a handful. Secretly she wondered what would happen if the two had a foal. Another feisty Nokota to look after, but probably a real beauty.

She smiled and giggled. Keyota snorted. Giving up on the stallion she put her mug out. Sniffing him. She snorted and squealed a bit. Katie shook her head. Keyota had that face that said "what?". Katie smiled. Oh, really to tell you the truth I uh.... ran away from home. She confessed. She sighed and patted keyota. Katie frowned and looked at the woman. Keyota looked at the stallion and snorted. Pawing the ground. Auds up. Katie patted Keyota.

Raine looked on as the girl's mare stretched out her muzzle, sniffing Cowboy as she did so. Then suddenly acting up again. Cowboy now bared his teeth, backing up until he pulled on the reins, eventually standing still and looking out on the range with his ears pricked forwards. One ear leaned towards the small group, listening to the conversation whilst ignoring the mare. The girl came out with a confession and Raine looked a little bit surprised. She pulled her hair out of her face, thinking for a moment before speaking.
Where from?
She asked, not knowing whether she was a local or not.

Keyota snorted and reared. She bobbed her head angerly and backed up. She troted away near the stream getting a drink of water. Katie looked at her. Keyota looked back at her and stood there. Katie knew Keyota wouldn't get out of her sight. Katie looked back. A few hours away. Hamption. She said. She smiled. S looked. Its almost looked as if the woman was a bit in shoke about her secreat. She smiled and put her hands in her jacket pocket alittle cold. But I don't know how long i'll last, hehehe, I'm starting to get cold already. She said and giggled.

Cowboy eventually turned back towards Raine, who stroked his neck and scratched by his ears. He leaned towards the touch, closing his eyes as his head drooped and the gelding relaxed. He could be rather tame and puppy-like when he was in a good mood. He was ignoring the mare, whom had been allowed to wonder as she wished. He did watch, then drooping his eyes again and dozing. Raine continued to scratch by his ears, occasionally stroking his cheek and neck.
Geez. You really are a long way from home.
She commented, starting to feel slightly homesick at the mention of "home". Los Angeles wasn't much of a homely place, but it had been her home after all. She enjoyed her grandmothers company and being able to spend so much time with her brother, but she missed the Los Angeles life.
What were you running away from?
Raine asked, leaning against Cowboy a little bit.
