Lyrics: I'd Come For You by Nickelback
Heaving a hefty cough, Justin muttered something about having to quit smoking. We all knew that wouldn't happen anytime soon. It was a pretty cold day despite the fact that it was supposed to be summer and he was wearing one of his leather jacket, the zip done up most of the way. Underneath he was wearing a white t-shirt and his usual jeans. They were hanging low but Justin didn't worry too much about mooning everyone in a half mile radius. Noticing the looks some women gave him when they past. He hadn't seen one person below fifty since arriving in Westin and that just made him believe his stay here wasn't going to be a pleasant one. He needed parties, smoking, drinking and loud people. This was a small town and he was losing hope that there would be anything like that here. He climbed the porch steps, the floor boards creaking underneath him as he knocked on the frame of the screen door, waiting for someone to answer his impatient raps with his knuckles.
Raine was sitting with her head in her grandmothers lap, stroking the little ball of scruffy fluff on her lap, looking far off as she continued the mindless act. Scruffy, the little ball of scruffy fluff, purred to his hearts content. He stretched out, his little paws broadening and his tiny, but vicious claws came out. He stood up and began to knead of Raine's jeans, meowing and rubbing his head up against her hand.
Such a cute baby.
Raine cooed, picking him up and cuddling the kitten against her chest. He was honestly, absolutely adorable. Her grandmother, watching her granddaughter and kitten, was peering over the edge of the book she was reading.
"Are you cold, dear?"
She asked, her voice sounding a little croaky.
I'm alright, Gran.
Raine replied, putting Scruffy back onto her lap and turning to face her grandmother. Her grandmother was old but still looked elegant and refined, as rough as she had been looking these past few days. Raine smiled a little bit and it was weak, still somehow managing to reach her eyes.
"Raine..."
Her grandmothers eyes welled with tears.
Do you want some tea?
Raine wouldn't hear how she had her mothers eyes. It hurt too much. Her grandmother nodded, returning to her book. Raine picked up little Scruffy and he complained, beginning to nibble on her thumb.
I always loved having holes in my fingers.
She said, scratching his head.Just One more moment, that's all that's needed.
Like wounded soldiers in need of healing.
Time to be honest, this time I'm bleeding
Please don't dwell on it, cause I didn't mean it
I cant believe I said I'd lay our love on the ground
But it doesn't matter cause I've made it up forgive me now
Everyday I spend away my souls inside out
Gotta be someway that I can make it up to you now, somehow.
By now you'd know that I'd come for you
No one but you, yes I'd come for you
But only if you told me to
And I'd fight for you
I'd lie, it's true
Give my life for you
You know I'd always come for you
As Raine put the water on to boil in the kitchen she heard someone rapping furiously on the door. It sounded impatient, whomever "it" was.
I'll get it.
She called to her gran, walking off towards the door. Meanwhile, Justin was standing outside in the freezing cold. He muttered profanities, rubbing his arms up and down. Behind him, his black mustang was loaded with bags full of stuff. When packing, Justin ahd realized just how much stuff he had. So much so that he had left most of it behind, back in the apartment he only just moved into a year before. He heard a voice and immediately perked up, the edges of his mouth pulling up into a smile. Raine, hurry up! He was shouting in his head. She pulled open the door, her surprise showing on her face as she stared at him.
Oh my god!
She shouted, flinging open the screen door and jumping into her brothers arms.
Justin!
She squealed, excited to the point of bursting as she jumped up and down. Justin had to hand it to his sister, she had a lot of enthusiasm. He wound his arms around her, laughing and holding her tight.
Hey Rai. Its so good to see you.
Raine felt the tears dribbling down her cheeks and she felt overwhelmed. Spending so much time away from her brother and at such a difficult time had been hard. She had needed him, as much as he had depended on her, she depended on him, even if she was the older of the two siblings.
I thought you weren't coming.
Justin leaned back to look at her.
I've never let you down.
True.
