Word Count: 476 Status: Complete Lyrics: What's My Name by Rihanna ft. Drake
Raine set her phone down on the counter after phoning Jacob and put her hand over her eyes. The sun coming in through the window was so strong it was blinding. At least it was when you had a headache. Raine staying leaning against the counter keeping her eyes shaded when eventually she looked up. Her brother was shuffling in from the bedroom wearing his black wifebeater and tracksuit pants. He squinted at her and spoke in a grumbly voice.
"Morning sunshine."
He dropped down on the couch and covered his face with a pillow.
What did you do to me.
She moaned, also squinting as she looked over at Justin on the couch. She could just see his feet poking out from where she was standing. She pulled her hair back and then dropped her arms at her sides.
I shouldn't drink when I'm tired.
She moaned, burying her face in her hands and shaking her head. Brief images of the previous night flashed in her mind. She could remember her first whiskey that she had actually stolen from Justin. Then there was the memory of hanging in someone's arms. And...a stetson? Oh god. She had no clue what she had been up to the previous night but she could certainly feel it right then.
I heard you good with them soft lips Yeah, you know word of mouth The square root of 69 is 8 something 'cause I've been tryna work it out, oooow Good weed, white wine I come alive in the night time Okay, away we go Only thing we have on is the radio Oh, let it play, say you gotta leave But I know you wanna stay You're just waiting on the traffic jam to finish, girl The things we could do in twenty minutes girl Say my name, say my name Wear it out, it's getting hot, crack a window, air it out I can get you through a mighty long day Soon as I go the text you gonna right is gonna say...
Not everybody knows how to work my body Knows how to make me want it Boy, you stay up on it You got that something that keeps me so off balance Baby, you're a challenge, let's explore your talent
"Look at that sex hair."
Raine was walking through the living room to get her bedroom when Justin threw that comment her way.
Don't make me paranoid.
She knew that he was joking around with her and she laughed, although quickly regretted it as she covered her ears.
You're an evil, evil person.
She carried on into her bedroom and closed the door behind her. She pulled out an off the shoulder black jersey from her cupboard as well as some light jeans. She pulled on the clothes and remembered just how backwards her routine had become. She hadn't even brushed her teeth yet. Raine just had a feeling that this was going to be a hell of a day. She combed her hair back and eyed her floor. Well, there were her clothes from the previous night. She knelt down to pick them all up, gathering them into her arms and behind her she felt something furry on her leg.
Scruffs.
She turned, picking up the fluffball and sitting him down in her lap. She scratched his ears like a dog and heard his mad purring. She kissed the top of her kitten's head.
Do you know what happened last night?
She asked, smiling when the kitten mewed and then went about settling himself into the pile of clothes she had just gathered. She stood up and moved to the bathroom, attempting to put on her mascara. There were a few hit and misses, eventually she just leaned back with her hand on the sink. God, she hated hangovers.

As Jacob pulled down the road, his eyes were hard. He'd had a long night, and Deheya had begun to panic in her stall, resulting in Jake separating her from her two new foals. They'd cried for their mother all night, but she was in a fit, rearing, thrashing out with her forelegs, just being generally unpleasant. Jake had stayed in the stall with the foals, allowing them to push close to him as the three drifted to sleep in the warm stall.
She ain't into wine and roses Beer just makes her turn up her nose And, she can't stand the thought of sippin' champagne No Cuervo Gold Margaritas Just ain't enough good burn in taquilla She needs somethin' with a little more edge and a little more pain She's my little whiskey Girl My Ragged-on-the-edges girl Ah, but I like 'em rough
He still felt a little nauseous, but he knew that Raine wanted to come be with Roman. The gelding wouldn't let Jake near him, his eyes rolling back into his head whenever the human had so much as walked by his still. Rocko had been right in Jake's pocket, and Jake had even gone as far as to shutting the barn doors and letting the chocolate palomino follow him around. He seemed to understand that everyone needed their own personal space.
As he pulled into the driveway, Jake pushed the gearshift into neutral, parking the truck. He climbed out, gently knocking on the door as he waited for Raine. [/blockquote]

With her head hanging her blonde hair fell over either side of her face. All that she had to look at was the white porcelain of the basin but she didn't even do that. She just shut her eyes and stayed put. She had been wobbling around the house but Jacob was coming over soon and she didn't want to be a complete mess when he came over. He hadn't been feeling well and she intended on helping him a bit more that day. She also wanted to spend some time with Roman.
I'm checking your pulse I'm giving you air But your body disagrees And no it don't care at all I'm wasting my time Now your eyes roll awake You're looking at me You say "Darling what happened Did I fall asleep?" And you carry me home Cause I know I wasn't here I'm closing your blinds I'm shutting your eyes And now I I'm afraid I have to go Whoa
I'd sing you a song But I'm feeling quite off In my heart It's occupied And now's not the time
Raine was just gathering herself when she heard Justin call her. Well, it sounded more like grumbling mixed with another language. It certainly didn't sound english.
What are you on about?
She called back, pausing for a moment then giving up and entering the living room.
Justin? What?
She asked and he pointed at the door whilst covering his face with a pillow. As she walked past she pinched his leg and he kicked feebly then turned over. Raine walked towards the door and opened it, leaning in the doorway with one arm against the door and looked at the man standing on her doorstep.
Raine knew very well that she looked damn good in her off the shoulder jersey and form-fitting jeans. She also knew that her head was pounding. Aspirin. She needed aspirin.
Hey.
Her greeting was short but it was laced with familiarity and had an air of cheer.
Come inside. I'm just getting the last few things together.
She opened the door a bit more and headed back through the bedroom.
You remember Justin.
She said, patting her brother's head as she walked past and cast Jacob a mischevious look then disappeared into her bedroom. Justin peeked out from his pillow then sat up on the couch, sleepily rubbing his eyes.
"How's it, man."
Raine returned, casting the two a casual look then headed into the kitchen. She pulled aspirin out of a cupboard and filled a glass with water. She threw the pill into her mouth then took a few gulps of water.
Sorry. Last night was uh, well a little crazier than I thought it would be.
Raine cringed and set the glass down in the sink before returning to the lounge.
Did you want anything to drink, maybe?

Jake slippped in through the door, keeping his eyes on Raine. He saw the way she wobbled when she walked, and a frown formed on his lips. He felt his bruises from Deheya pounding violently under his shirt. His movements weren't as fluid as usual, from sleeping on the floor, and he turned to face Justin.
Decent. I got two more horses coming today.
He winced, holding his shoulder as Raine took her asprin. She offered him a drink, and he declined. His head was swimming, and he just wanted to go to bed. But he had work to do.
Roman won't let me near him. I'm not sure if he was just being sweet yesterday, because we were safe to him, or maybe he just doesn't like guys. Bonfire is content to just sit around and eat, but Rocko wants to follow me around the barn at all times.
He yawned, his straight white teeth visible for a moment, before he covered his mouth with his hand.
Then Quinn's bringing me two horses today. It seems the mare wouldn't leave without her studly friend.
He frowned, knowing full well how studs were, but deciding to give him the benefit of the doubt. [/blockquote]

Raine relaxed, standing alongside one of the couches with a hand resting in the cradle of her hip. Taking a closer look at Jacob she could see just how tired he looked. Obviously something had prevented him from sleeping very well that night. So neither of them were exactly fresh, which was what the horses needed them to be, but they would get by.
I'm sure that Roman is just suffering a little stress. I mean after ending up at the BLM then finding yourself in a home is an adjustment. For anyone.
Raine added in her own thoughts alongside Jake's and picked her handbag up off of the floor. She set it down on the arm of the couch and shuffled through it. She pulled out her cellphone and slipped it into her jeans pocket. She closed up her handbag and set it down on the floor again. She adjusted her jersey, fixing it into its position and looking up at Jacob. She was smiling.
Lovebirds. He must be a handsome fella.
With that Raine put her hand on Justin's shoulder.
I'll see you later, JT.
"Uh huh."
Justin flopped back onto the couch after giving Jacob a mumbled good bye. Raine ruffled his hair then headed over to Jacob.
We can get some halters in town? I didn't see any more back at the ranch?
She asked, standing in front of Jacob and despite how tired he was she took his hand, lacing their fingers and kissing his knuckles gently. She reached up and brushed his cheek with her hand, eventually holding his chin between her index finger and thumb.
No parties tonight. You can put me to work.
She offered him, smiling sweetly. She had an idea that he wasn't impressed with her hangover whereas he looked as sick as a dog. It was just Raine's lifestyle and although she could be the sweetest person in the world, she could also be quite careless. They were adjusting into one another's lifestyles. Jacob was used to long days on the ranch and Raine was used to shopping during the day and clubs at night. Not only were the horses adjusting but these two still had some adjusting to do as well.

Jake's sore body protested every movement, even as Raine simply lifted his hand to her mouth.
We can go get halters, some more feed, shavings, and a couple of mineral blocks.
He called a light goodbye to Justin, laughing at his mumbled response, before slipping outside. He had a surprise for Raine at the house, a 1966 Mustang he'd just bought, that was just like knew. He knew that she knew that he needed something other than his old pickup to drive around in, and the baby blue car was absolutely perfect.
Deheya panicked last night. It was so bad that I had to climb on the door to allow her out, then all but wrestle her to the stall. I got some pretty nasty bruises and cuts from her.
He winced, starting up the old truck, allowing it to warm up a minute.
We'll have to bottle feed the foals for a while. She's so distraught about something. [/blockquote]

Word Count: 398 Status: Complete Lyrics: On A Lonely Night by A Rocket To The Moon
Raine dropped her hand from his cheek and walked forwards, taking a hold of the door handle and pulling it down. She pulled open the door and walked through, standing and waiting for Jacob to walk through and close the door. She stretched her arms out behind her back, her eyes closing with satisfaction as the muscles in her back felt better. She guessed that Jacob was still feeling the strain in his muscles from the previous days and she still owed him that massage. He certainly looked like he needed one but they had work to do. Jake was going through the things that they needed to get.
Seriously? Wow, that's a change from the sweet thing she was yesterday.
Raine frowned, climbing into the passenger seat of the truck and settled down. The cold winter air was chilling her to the bone and all she wanted to do was sit in the confines of the truck where there was a heater, even if it didn't work all that well.
I was sixteen, met you out in Ohio You were only fifteen, living life by the mile We laid under the stars, fell asleep in your backyard You said you could fly, but you never need to cause with us you never try too hard And you never will
On a lonely night, you will see you're everything to me (you got everything) On a lonely night, oh the truth Is every night is lonely without you every night is lonely without you here
we are older now, and you came back to Ohio you whispered something to me I haven't heard in a while I wish I could lie and just tell you I'm fine You wouldn't believe me if you tried If I listen to our song, I'll be up all night
I can't wait to see the foals again. Even if their mother is not all that well. They're such sweet souls.
She commented, remembering the twins as they took their first venture into the snow. The little buckskin appaloosas would be gorgeous once they were full grown and Raine just could not wait to see it. She thought back on Desert Dancer and Cowboy, already missing them and knowing that she should pay them a visit. She never went through so many days without seeing her two horses and now that there was Roman, she didn't know how she was going to divide her time. Perhaps she could talk to Jacob about bringing them to the ranch. Cowboy was a good working horse and apparently had experience with cattle but had only been used for casual riding as of the last year. Dancer would be wonderful to ride and perhaps she could also be put to work but at the moment she still needed training. She would also possibly be bred with the Nokota stallion, Frequent Flyer.
Raine's thoughts stayed quietly in her head even though it was still pounding. She couldn't remember how many whiskeys she had had but she knew that it was only partly her brother's fault. Her eyes wandered towards Jacob.
So, tell me about the two new horses? When are they arriving?

Jake ran his hand through his dark hair, noticing just how shaggy it was getting. He shrugged it off, more concerned about the state both he and Raine were in, while they had to care for horses.
Daa'bu likes being right under your feet. Minni understands personal space a little better, but she still follows me around like a puppy. She and Rocko are best friends now.
He let out a laugh, stretching his arms up before pushing the gearshift into reverse. The old truck lurched, before giving in to a gentle roll back. Jake winced, putting the truck in gear, and starting off down the road.
As for the new horses, we're getting the two, obviously. The mare is a Thoroughbred, Quarter Horse cross. She's chocolate palomino. The stallion is a silver dapple Rocky Mountain Horse. [/blockquote]
