Jake laughed at Raine's comment.
You sound like that should make up for the torturous experience you just put me through!
He shuddered, turning to glance at his pickup. The whole bed was filled with numerous objects awaiting a place in his house. Table, chairs, bed frame, matress... how they had managed to fit it all on the back of his truck amazed Jake even as he looked.
Time to start bringing everything in.
He let out a low whistle, and Aziza's head appeared at the barn. Jake nodded, and she scurried back inside to keep Deheya company. Jake reached up, grabbing the box that the table was in- unassembled, of course- and staggered slightly under it's weight.
Could you direct me to the door?
A teasing tone filled his voice, but in all honesty- he couldn't see beyond the large box. [/blockquote]

It wasn't torture.
Raine said, her amusement shining through her voice and especially with that grin of hers. She walked around to the bed of the truck when Jake started gathering the box up into his arms. She grabbed something light, the bedside lamp namely. She came up alongside him.
Alright, just don't get squished like a pancake.
Raine headed for the house whilst guiding Jacob with his heavy parcel. Once they reached the porch she warned him of the stairs and they made it up.
Oh shit.
Raine felt around in her pockets, feeling around for the key and eventually she found them.
False alarm.
She chimed, knowing very well that he was going to probably pubble her with something. The thought just made her laugh but she held it back as she pushed open the door and let Jacob go through.
In the room to the right.
The house was bare and the dust in the air made it smell old and unused. Raine left the lamp in the hallway out of his way so that Jacob wouldn't trip over it.
Ugh. I don't know how you carried that.
Raine eyed the heavy parcel as he set it down.
I'll show off my muscles and bring in a chair.
Raine joked, already heading out to the truck to grab something to take into the house.

Flashing a dubious look, Jake pulled off his jacket and made his way back out to the truck. The wifebeater fit tight to him and his muscled stretched as he grabbed the bedframe. It was about twice as heavy as the table, and his face contorted in a slight look of pain, but he managed to get it into the kitchen.
Before long, most of the furniture was in the kitchen, aside from the couch, tv, and the coffee table. Jake swooped up the bedframe and dragged it to the bedroom. The large room was painted a light, minty green, and he used his pocket knife to tear the box apart. In about ten minutes, the frame was assembled, and he went back to the kitchen for the mattress.
Come see if you approve of where the bed is.
Jake teased her, but he was actually curious about what she had to say. [/blockquote]

Now tell me if this wasn't your absoloute dream: standing by and watching a hunky man in a wifebeater lifting large weights. Oh please, Raine was in heaven. She would never admit it out loud but hey, he wasn't giving her a break here. Run around in a wifebeater and sure as hell Raine would be in the audience. She was lifting all of the small things inbetween, on the occasion holding the door open for Jacob when the wind pulled it shut.
Finally once the weights were lifted Raine released her hair from the bun. She hated tying it up and loved her blonde waves. She wasn't at all bothered as they hung in her face when she removed things from their boxes. She also had to pick up all the pieces of cardboard lying around after Jacob had had his way with him. She really felt like she should have been wearing an apron like a maid, amusing herself with the thought as she went about doing all the things he wouldn't worry about.
She had been so busy that she hadn't heard Jacob come in, and jumped a little when he spoke. She put her hand over her racing heart and laughed at her own foolishness.
Excuse me. Interior decorator coming through.
Raine walked past Jacob in the doorway and up the stairs to the second story. She leaned in the doorway of the bedroom then walked through, looking over the minty green walls. She finally looked at the bed frame sitting facing the window.
You'll have a view of the mountains when you're lying in bed.
Raine mused, walking to the window and admiring the view of the Rickshaw mountains in the distance.
Now all you need is the mattress, or I don't think you'll be very comfortable.
She walked back towards where Jacob was standing, with a pleasant smile on her face.
Come on, macho man. Time to go pull a muscle.
She quipped, again having to avert her eyes from his wifebeater.
Honestly. Don't you ever wear clothes.
She rolled her eyes dramatically and folded her arms, waiting for him to join her.
Next thing you'll be in your indian outfit.
She teased, her eyes had a mischevious twinkle.

Jake winced, rubbing this back, and groaned.
I believe I already did.
He jogged down the stairs, grabbing the mattress, and pulling it up the stairs and dropping it into the frame. He collapsed on the bed, his body aching and his back screaming at every little movement.
I think I'm gonna need a break.
His face contorted in pain and he exhaled deeply. Rolling onto his back, he gazed up at Raine, a huge smile spreading on his face. Patting the bed, he spoke in a little kid voice.
Come test out my bed with me.
A pout formed on his lips, and he was giving her the puppydog eyes, until his back pinched again and he shut his eyes and set his jaw, hard. [/blockquote]

Nearly done.
Raine called to Jacob as he went down the stairs to retrieve the mattress. She waited for him to return and when he did she could see that he really was straining himself at this point. Raine bit down on her lip, feeling quite guilty that she wasn't able to help. If she had, she'd probably have grown a mountain ranges for biceps by now so she had to give him some credit for all the hard work he'd done.
Be right back.
You're standin' all alone, Short of breath and tired eyes. You're shakin' to the bone, Overdressed and nowhere else to go. Oh girl, I need to know...
Let's get you from the cold, I'll help you with your overcoat. I'll never let you go, I need you more than I could ever show you. Tell me now, because I need to know...
Everybody needs somebody sometimes. (sometimes) Everybody needs somebody on their mind. So tell me what you want, girl; I'll be there to hold you. 'Cause everybody needs somebody, sometimes.
Raine left the room and headed downstairs. Among their parcels she had grabbed a celebratory six pack of beer for his "house warming". She grabbed two beers out of the pack and headed back up the stairs. She sat on the bed alongside Jacob with her legs crossed beneath her. She put it down on his chest and leaned over him.
Wakey Jakey.
She teased him, using the childish nickname to hopefully get him to smile despite his current predicament.
Is it really that bad?
She asked, tilting her head as she looked at Jacob.
Looks like we'll have to book you into the spa for a massage. Sit up. A quick toast and then I'll help you out with your back, alright? Don't be a party pooper.
She motioned for him to get up, again having to tie up her blonde hair but this time in a ponytail. She held out her beer, having twisted off the top and set it off somewhere on the bed.

Jake grinned at Raine as she handed him a beer. He sat up, twisting the top off easily, and raised his bottle to toast hers before chugging the whole bottle in two swigs. He placed the empty bottle on the floor and stretched back out across the bed, sighing.
I still have so much to do.
He frowned. This was the second time he'd had a house of his own, but this was different. He didn't have a brother living with him to help him keep it neat. It seemed large and empty, with just him, Deheya and Aziza.
Last night was a thrller, was a killer, was a damn good time. I met a pretty girl and I wanted to make her mine. So I took her for a walk and damn that girl could talk. We talked about all the pretty things, and all the shitty things, and all the little things that fall... between.
And oh, pretty girl, I know that I just met you, but I might just dare to say, that I love you. And oh, sweet perfection, won't you hear my one confession? I've been lost. But dear, I'm found
I was thinking about going to the BLM and adopting a friend for Deheya.
He turned, wincing, but wanted to see what Raine's reaction would be. [/b][/size][/blockquote]

Raine raised her bottle to his.
To the house!
And with a clink she brought the bottle back to her lips. She took a tentative sip. It had been a long while since Raine had last had a beer. The last time she had had a beer it had been with Len, her ex. She couldn't really recall the rest of that night. Sheepishly Raine remembered waking up and not remembering a thing. She eyed the beer again and took another sip. Well that wasn't going to happen again.
You're finished?
Her mouth hung open as he discarded the bottle. Frowning at him she took another sip from the bottle then placed it in her lap. She leaned back, supporting herself on her arm and watching Jacob.
I think that would be great. She's all alone on this huge plot of land.
Raine offered him one of her laziest smiles. She closed her eyes and rolled her shoulders back, blinking her eyes open again.
I'm going to fall asleep any second. Its a comfy bed.
She said, a little bit of laughter racking her ribcage.
I can't believe that nearly twenty four hours ago you were asking me for directions to buy jeans. And now here we are, on your ranch. Holy crap, Jake.

Jake watched Raine for a moment before yawning.
You could sleep here, if you'd like. I can crash on the couch.
The past twenty-four hours of work were finally setting in on Jake's body, and he wanted nothing more than to let Aziza in, take a shower, and go to sleep. He buried his face in the mattress and sighed. Raine was right. It was a comfortable, king sized bed.
You shouldn't drink and drive.
He cast her a crooked, half-smile, before grinning broadly. He reached his arm back, massaging his sore muscles and felt a smile spread on his face as the heat kicked on. It was a tad bit chilly in the house, but it was okay.

Raine could really have just curled up and slept right then and there but she hardly thought it was appropriate. She tilted her head and found herself laughing aloud when he mentioned the don't drink and drive campaign that was floating around.
I've had three sips. I'm hardly drunk.
She watched him attempt to massage his aching muscles.
And with your back I'm hardly going to kick you onto the couch.
She was quiet for a few moments before she finally slapped his hand away.
Oh come on. Let me do it.
She grinned, sitting a little closer alongside him and leaning down to look at him.
Sorry.
She felt a bit guilty for slapping his hand back but honestly, never let a man do a woman's job. She used both hands to massage his back, starting at the small of his back and working small circles on both of spine with her thumbs. Someone had taught her the technique and Raine had nearly fallen asleep just receiving the relaxing massage.
I don't have a green thumb but I could be a masseuse.
She mused, flipping a piece of hair away from her face.

Jake leaned up, pulling his wifebeater over his head and stretching his arms straight upward, stretching his back muscles out.
To answer your question from before, no. I don't like wearing clothes.
He felt her fingers on his back and felt himself falling asleep. He closed his eyes, stretching out further, and yawned.
I can sleep on the couch. It's a pull out.
He groggily tried to convince her, his eyelids like weights as he tried to keep them open.
Jake turned, hyper-aware of the fact that Raine's hands were now on his stomach, but his eyes met hers.
Come to the BLM with me tomorrow? [/blockquote]

Raine worked her way up to the middle of his back, keeping an even pressure as she massaged his muscles. Jacob spoke and a grin broke out onto her lips.
No kidding.
She replied. If only her friends could see her now. They would never let this go if they ever find out what she was doing.
Like its even comfortable.
She said, obviously bemused, or maybe it was just the fact that Raine had always refused to sleep on a couch. The one night that she had was when she had come back from a late night out but had gone home with one of her friends. That couch brought back bad memories and a hell of a bill from a masseuse. Raine's lifestyle back in L.A. certainly did seem a little far out when she compared it with how she'd been here in Westin. She was calming down from the party girl lifestyle and it suited Raine just fine.
Next thing she knew Jacob had turned over and her hand was resting on his stomach Just act casual. She had to remind herself, biting her lip. However she couldn't help herself. If she opened her mouth she was going to laugh like an idiot. Raine just bit tightly onto her lip and nodded, trying to suppress her smile.
Mm hm.
Was the only sound that came from her as she agreed. He was really making it hard for her to behave. Finally she exhaled and took her hand back to push her hair behind her ear.
Warn me next time, puppy eyes.
She faked a grudging expression, looking down at that face of his with his eyes on her. City boys had nothing on a cowboy.

Jake gave her a surprised look. What would he have to warn her about? Confused, he let it shrug off, and rolled over, making room.
Lay down, he laughed. I'll go sleep downstairs. It's fine.
His dark eyes were shadows of her blue ones, and their eyes locked for a moment. Jake sat up, raising one eyebrow, and yawned. His arm moved up to his mouth, his muscles straining under taut skin. He felt himself leaning into her, and saw her leaning back. Closing his eyes, he allowed his lips to gently touch hers- once, twice- before pulling back slightly and smiling. He gently took a strand of her hair, and placed it on his upper lip, using his lip to hold it in place like a silly mustache. [/blockquote]

Raine tilted her head as he laid back down on the bed, telling her to lay down and that he would go downstairs. Raine had her arguement ready when he sat back up. Something about the look in his eyes told her to keep quiet. Her eyes were a kind of sea blue with the light shining on them and his copper ones were darker, with shadows on his face. Raine had not expected him to do what he did next. And her heart just melted.
Honey why you calling me so late? It's kinda hard to talk right now. Honey why are you crying? Is everything okay? I gotta whisper 'cause I can't be too loud
Well, my girl's in the next room Sometimes I wish she was you I guess we never really moved on It's really good to hear your voice saying my name It sounds so sweet Coming from the lips of an angel Hearing those words it makes me weak
And I never wanna say goodbye But girl you make it hard to be faithful With the lips of an angel
He leaned into her and Raine's breath caught in her throat. His lips touched hers and she was incapable of doing anything. There was obvious surprise on her face but what did she expect. He was half naked on his own bed - a bed that she was on. Oh yes. She was biting her lip again, smiling from ear to ear and there he was using her hair as a moustache.
Give me that.
She laughed, taking her hair back.
Goof.
She teased, but she just couldn't resist. Raine placed her hand on his chest and leaned into him, finding his lips and letting her heart race. She kissed him more firmly than their intial one, playfully but gently biting his lower lip and smiling mischeviously.
Now tell me again, what's my name.
She laughed, so out of touch that she had just about forgotten her own name.

Raine Adylin.
Jake grinned, kissing her again, before gently pulling her closer to him. He kissed her forehead, his heart beating a mile a minute.
Now remind me of mine? I can't seem to recall.
He yawned, but fought to keep his eyes open to continue joking.
Seems like there's always someone who disapproves They'll judge it like they know about me and you And the verdict comes from those with nothing else to do The jury's out, but my choice is you
So don't you worry your pretty little mind People throw rocks at things that shine And life makes love look hard The stakes are high The waters rough But this love is ours
A small smile formed on his lips, and he whispered quietly in Raine's ear.
You can stay the night, if you'd like.
His hand found the small of her back and gently moved it up, rubbing her back. [/blockquote]
