Sari had been walking for the past hour, not caring that there was a drizzle coming down... In fact she welcomed it. For the simply reason that the sky was crying for her when she felt like simply just breaking down and crying. It’s been over a year since she last felt whole… over a year since she had seen her beloved Perfect Storm. Just simply thinking of the horse brought tears to her eyes. Biting her lower lip the nineteen year old stood still for a moment before wrapping her arms around herself, before forcing her legs to continue to carry her forward.
Sari wasn’t even sure what had brought her to walk out in the rain like she was. In a black spaghetti top with light denim jeans, a black hoodie and her hair back in a low ponytail. Which was odd for Sari since she never like the mark on her neck, even after all this time, visible; she hated the thing and what it stood for. Even that wasn’t enough to reason why she was walking in the rain, risking pneumonia. With dark brown eyes cast downwards she spoke quietly to herself along the deserted road. “What am I doing out here… asking for my death? How am I supposed to find Storm when I can’t even think rationally." Because I'm broken, when I'm lonesome I don't feel right when you're gone away A dry laugh escaped her throat as she stopped in front of a farm; shattered eyes glanced up at the barn as she thought back to how things used to be… that was it for her. Sari’s legs seemed to not be able to hold her weight any more. Slipping down to her knees Sari finally let the tears come, and did they come. It was hard to tell that she was even crying with the slight rain, but one look at her bloodshot eyes that seemed to show how shattered she was and one would be able to tell. Sari didn’t sob and she made no noise to indicate that she was crying, on her eyes that were slowly growing puffy and red from all of the tears that seemed to just stream from her eyes.(Lyrics from the song Broken by Seether feat. Amy Lee)

Wyatt ran a hand through his hair as he made one last run down the many stalls lined up against the barn wall. He had left the upper half of the stall doors open and only one or two of the horses had their heads over their stall doors. The rest of them were eating after Wyatt had just done his rounds, giving them their hay for the night. Buck was the last horse at the end of the many rows of stalls and his ears twitched back and forth. The paint was looking towards the barn doors, apparently concerned with the sound of rain pattering against the wood. Wyatt stood alongside the stall door, patting his horse on the neck and rubbing the horse's cheek.
I know. Means that sooner or later the snow's gonna be here.
They're gonna find you, just believe. You're not a person; you're a disease.
All these lives that you've been taking, Deep inside, my heart is breaking. Broken homes from separation. Don't you know it's violation? It's so wrong, but you'll see. Never gonna let you take my world from me. The world outside these walls may know you're breathing, But you ain't comin' in. You ain't comin' in.
Wyatt pulled his working gloves off and stuffed them into his coat pocket. In turn he grabbed his stetson off of a hay bale and reached to switch off the barn light. Behind im he could hear his stallion Hero pounding his leg against his stall door.
Behave yourself.
Wyatt called over his shoulder to the mustang, who in turn shuffled about in his stall, as usual causing a fuss before any of the horses could get any rest. Being winter it was getting darker earlier and earlier on in the day. Now with the rain and dark clouds looming overhead things had become darker a whole lot quicker. Wyatt and his ranch hands had had to get the horses inside early and that hadn't happened without complaint from a few of the horses. Surprisingly Scat, the medicine hat mustang, had given Wyatt the most trouble heading into the barn. He had had to be turned in a few tight circles before he went anywhere near his stall door.
Wyatt pulled on his stetson, putting up the collar on his coat and switching off the barn lights. He opened the door and headed out, closing the door and fixing the latch. Wyatt hadn't taken many steps towards the ranch house before he spotted a 'lone figure all crumbled up on the ground. At first Wyatt thought it might have been a small predator but on closer inspection he could make out the figure as being human. Wyatt was baffled by the unfamiliar person and looked back and forth between the figure and the house. Rain drops dripped off of his stetson and a few landed on his nose. His hat was hardly enough protection against the rain and this figure seemed to be wearing pretty thin clothes for the weather outside. Not only was it raining but it was winter too. Tonight might be the night that the first of the snow fell before Christmas and looking at the person, she'd be horribly sick if left exposed for another ten minutes. Wyatt made his approach but did so cautiously. He stood towering over her but at a fair distance.
'scuse me? Ma'am?
Wyatt wasn't sure if she had heard him.
Ma'am? You lost?
Wyatt fixed his eyes on the girl and his brow pulled together in a frown. What the hell was she doing all the way out here? It was a pretty far drive from town let alone on foot. She must have come a long way before reaching Wyatt's own Silver Stag Ranch.

Sari had been biting her lower lip to try and force the tears away; however they just refused to stop. All she could think of was how alone she was feeling at this moment. Sari wasn’t even sure how long she had been walking for before collapsing on the spot.
What is going on… why can’t I control my emotions? It was so easy when I first got here and now suddenly I can barely hold myself together…
Sari’s mind was just a wave of confusion; she wasn’t sure who she truly was anymore or where her strong side had gone at the moment. Hearing a voice somewhat away, Sari’s head shot up as she glanced in direction of the voice. Seeing someone there, Sari quickly looked away as she wiped at the tears running down her face with the back of her eyes with her hand, even if it was wet from the rain.
“Don’t worry about me, I’ll be fine….Sorry if I caused you worry by randomly stopping in front of your farm. I’ll just continue heading back to my apartment.”
Sari’s voice was soft and it wouldn’t surprise her if the guy asked her what she had said. But then again she didn’t know how good of hearing he had…
Sari pushed herself up to stand again, and even though she didn’t feel the steadiest standing,. She knew that with the cold weather added with the rain… that she would need to get inside quickly if she didn’t want to get sick. Only problem is she didn’t know how long she and been walking for. Being new to the area and not quite sure where she was, well there was a good chance that she would get sick…
“D…Do you know how far till town?”
At least if she was in town she knew she would be able to find a dry place that would have warm food and drink. But was she willing to make that trek? At the moment Sari couldn’t even answer that, let alone if she had the will to move right now.

Wyatt watched the young woman as she turned her head away from him. He wasn't sure what she was doing or what the hell she was thinking. When she spoke up Wyatt immediately knew he'd have to push his weight around to get her to do the right thing. Staying out here would be so use to her and only bring the young woman trouble. Wyatt was never afraid of pushing his weight around either. He might act humbled around some people but for this woman he'd act like the firm rancher he was. He listened to her go on, eventually standing but not looking too steardy on her own two feet.
I ain't got no chickens runnin' around here. This is a ranch, ma'am. And you got a better head on your shoulders than to think you'll walk on back to town.
Childhood living is easy to do The things you wanted, I bought them for you Graceless lady, you know who I am You know I can't let you slide through my hands
Wild horses couldn't drag me away Wild, wild horses, couldn't drag me away
I watched you suffer a dull aching pain Now you decided to show me the same No sweeping exits or offstage lines Could make me feel bitter or treat you unkind
Wyatt shrugged off his father's coat from his own back and swung it around, he approached the unsteady stranger and put the coat over her shoulders. He rested his hand on her back inbetween her two shoulder blades. Upon closer inspection he thought he recognized this woman, actually. He hadn't been in town much apart from the trip with his wife and daughter just the other day. It was hard to keep up with all the news that he'd usually hear from the townspeople. His only real connections these days were Carl and Billy. What with Lily being sick and all, Wyatt found himself losing touch with the small town gossip that the Westin woman would usually force him into hearing. Not that Wyatt minded. It was good to take a break from all that blabbing.
C'mon, we got a place for you up at the bunker.
Wyatt urged her to walk in the direction of the bunker. The lights were on and burning bright against the gloomy darkness surrounding the wood building. It had plenty of bunker beds to give her her own privacy what with the two ranch hands and Finnegan already taking up some of the beds. His long blue sleeved shirt was already wet, splotched from where the rain drops had fallen on him. He'd had worse in torrential weather so the rain didn't seem to have much effect on him, apart from the fact that it was freezing cold. He wouldn't be exposed long, so long as he got this woman up to the bunker house quick enough.

Sari glanced at Wyatt when he spoke, something about what he had said… made something spark inside of her… it wasn’t a large spark, just small enough to get a bit of this old fire to begin flickering behind her eyes. It might have been how she took his words about having no chickens running around the ranch… whatever it was… a bit of her old, stronger self seemed to struggle against the chains a current sorrow had placed on it.
When he placed his father’s coat around her shoulders before placing him hand between her shoulder blades before what seemed like urging her towards the direction of the bunker, she forced her legs to strengthen and move… Something about how tough and strong the male seemed to be, forced her to push away her own sorrow… Sari never really wanted to appear weak… and to basically look completely shattered, even though she was, in front of someone who reminded her of her old self before moving here… well talk about a wet slap to the face wake up call.
“When you say ranch… you have horses right?” The flickering fire in her eyes seemed to become a steady flame that flickered behind her eyes, she seemed almost hopeful that he would say yes. If there was one thing that Sari loved more and could be herself around… it was horses. This was probably why she missed Perfect Storm so much, that horse knew almost everything about her… they had clicked when she first met him as a yearling… To Sari it felt as if it was something she would never have with another horse. To see him sold off broke her heart and more than likely his as well.
Her steps got steadier as she continued walking; her stride returning to its original somewhat long gait, maybe in time she could go back to her old, stronger self… but only time would be able to tell. Sari’s eyes glanced around the ranch, seeming to pause on the barn that she finally noticed… a certain brightness seemed to come back to her eyes as she thinking on forcing herself to get up pretty early in the morning to check out the barn. Even if it smelled of hay and no horses, the sweet smell of hay would calm her oddness; maybe even bring her back to a ‘normal’ state of mind for her.

Wyatt watched the woman for a response as he urged her to walk in the direction of the bunker. She seemed to be considering something for a moment and what with the dark Wyatt hardly noticed the change in her eyes. His shirt was beginning to soak through and he felt the cold settle onto his skin. He couldn't complain because he wasn't as worse off as the stranger standing alongside him. Soon enough she spoke up and Wyatt's eyes questioned her.
What else would I be doin' out here?
Wyatt's statement was a little less harsher than his first about the "farm". He was obviously a bit guarded about Sari. She had shown up out of the blue in the rain and was now asking about his horses. Lily was the one who gave people her sympathies and right now this was Wyatt giving Sari the benefit of the doubt. He could have just offered her a ride into town but instead he was offering her a bed in the bunker, which softened the harshness that was exuded from him in his voice.
It only took a few minutes for them to cross the yard and before he knew it, Wyatt was opening the bunker door and ushering the girl in. He closed the door and looked down at himself. Even his jeans were pretty damp after meandering around in that rain.
"Look at what the cat dragged in."
Billy was the first to quip a little humour, sitting in a chair at a little wooden table that was meant to be the kitchen table.
Don't you try your funny business. Found her out in the rain. Says she walked her all the way from town.
Wyatt didn't like that he was talking about Sari like she wasn't even in the room. He hadn't been able to use her name because, well, he didn't even know it yet. Billy cut to the chase first before Wyatt even had the chance.
"What's your name, darlin'?"

Sari’s thoughts were kept inside of her own head, now curious as to what kind of horses were on the ranch. Hearing his voice again, it sounded just slightly different, less harsh in a way. Sari figured he was guarded against her, then again who wouldn’t be guarded when talking to a stranger who seemed to have appeared out of nowhere and in the rain.
The rest of the walk to the bunker she was silent, leaving herself to her thoughts and the guy to his… It was only when they reached the bunker and entered it did she glanced up and around the inside of the bunker. The voice of the other male sitting at a table brought her attention to him…
It finally dawned on her that the male who had helped her… had never learned her name.. Sari stayed quiet as she listened to the two exchange some words, at the time she was very lightly shivering, finally realizing how cold she had been out in the rain. The warmth of the bunker felt good, and it was starting to make her warm, but still the chill of being out in the rain stuck with her.
When she heard the male sitting at the table ask her name, Sari looked up for a few minutes, it looked as if she was registering her name; when in fact she was wondering if she should tell them. That was when it crossed her mind about how much they had helped her already. They could have simply left her to her own devices but instead the male behind her was allowing her to stay in his bunker for the night.
“Sari… its Sari Montel…”
Her voice was just loud enough to be heard by the two, although to Sari she sounded so quiet… this was odd of her, usually her voice was easily heard and clear as a bell… she couldn’t have gotten sick… had she? At the moment she wasn’t sure, tomorrow would probably tell for sure if she had or not..

Billy was giving the stranger one of his friendly but cheesy smiles. He was Lily's cousin but showed a more boisterous side than some of his other family. He was an easy man to get along with but could be somewhat intimidating meeting him for the first time because of how larger than life he could be for a small town rancher. He was a whole lot of man content with living the simple life.
"Sari? Ain't that an unusual name."
Wyatt shot Billy one of those looks that told him to keep within his boundaries.
My name's Wyatt Parker. I own this ranch and this here is my wife's cousin, Billy. You're on Silver Stag, 'case you wanted to know where the heck you were.
Wyatt removed his stetson and placed it on the kitchen table.
Better get you some dry clothes.
Wyatt had noticed her shivering and walked over to one of the few cupboards they had in the bunker. It lacked many furnishings besides the essentials and there were no pictures on the wall or any kinds of decorations. It was almost a bit empty if it weren't for the bunk beds that took up a lot of the space. It was comfy but not homey. Wyatt was sure that Lily would make the bunker one of her projects. What this place definitely needed was a woman's touch.
Where's Carl?
Wyatt pulled out a plaid shirt and a few other clothes that Sari could choose from. She still had his coat but for the moment Wyatt was fine just the way he was.
"Carl? God knows. He's takin' a bath, I suppose. Better hope he has some good sense to wear a towel."
Billy shot Wyatt one of those looks that told him he knew he was overstepping boundaries with his sense of humour, but even Wyatt had cracked a smile. He could just imagine Carl's horror if he stepped out without a towel on and there was a strange woman right there to witness the whole damn thing.
He's just kiddin'.
Wyatt looked at Sari and had walked back over, handing her the small pile of clothes.
There's another bathroom through there for you to change. Billy here's no harm to ya and you can choose whichever bed you'd like. Think you'll be okay for the night, ma'am?
Wyatt picked up his stetson from the kitchen table and stood waiting for Sari's reply. He hadn't heard of her before but was sure that on one of his trips into town for horse feed he'd seen her face. It had to be quite recently because this woman didn't seem like someone who was quite comfortable with Westin, not quite accustomed to the small town buzz.

Sari watched the men as that spoke, hearing the one man finally give his name, before telling her that she was on Silver Stag, she nodded… she hadn’t minded what Billy had said about her name being unusual, it was a reaction that she was pretty used to for now...
“Thank you… and you’re right, Mr. Parker, it’s a bit of a relief to know where the heck I am. It’s nice to meet you by the way, Billy…”
Although Sari wasn’t the biggest person on meeting new people, she didn’t mind meeting a few every now and then… she just couldn’t stand it when faced with a large group of new people to have to be introduced to…
Her voice still held it’s softness as she spoke, but Sari was starting to relax a bit, getting a better realization about her surroundings, especially with a grip on her thoughts. She could now say she had full control over herself…
The young girl brought her attention to the two guys again when she heard Wyatt ask Billy where some male named Carl was. Hearing the response, Sari cracked a small smile, even a very soft chuckle came from her throat as she watched the two. Compared to when Sari first came in, she seemed to have relaxed quite a bit after seeing that she was not in any danger or such. Sari nodded when Wyatt reassured that Billy had only just been kidding.
She quietly and kindly took the clothes from his hands when he handed them to her… at least she had something dry to change into.
“Thank you and yes, I believe I’ll be alright for the night… thank you for allowing me to stay here.”
Sari gave a small smile, she was grateful for his help… She was curious about his horses… but she would wait till morning to see if she would be able to see the horses… to her it would distract her mind of the fear that had been eating at her; Sari had been so worried about if she would be able to find Perfect Storm ever.
Sari handed Wyatt the jacket he had placed over her shoulders, she didn’t go into the empty bathroom he had pointed out until after he had left. After changing into the dry clothes she hung her wet clothes on a rack before slipping back out and sitting on an empty bed…
